Review: Rose Tremain’s “The Cupboard”

by writereaderly

rose tremain the cupboardRose Tremain is just a reliably good novelist. This one, about an 87-year-old woman novelist who dies in cupboard after recounting her adventurous life to a spiritually lost American journalist, is also reliably good. I mean, it’s a bit too neat, and there were no real surprises anywhere, but she does her job well and sometimes that’s enough.
